Westerdell is a small town located on the southern border of Gildan, close to the elven county of Ellender. The town has a Borris Stone refining plant and around three hundred soldiers stationed there to protect the stones. These soldiers are also responsible for protecting the forest dragons from poachers as the small dragons are in great demand for their body parts used in powerful magic. Although Westerdell grows a lot of their crops, the town is not self-sustaining and is consistently supplied from the city of Glammus and the smaller fishing town of Pic.
The town was founded only a century ago as a way station between Glammus and Corris. The road leading south goes to Corris, but the forest surrounding Westerdell is too thick and vast to travel through. Travelers often get lost in the forest and are never seen again. Even the Gildan soldiers can get lost in the forest, but the magic they use helps them find their way back. It is rumored that there is a lost city deep within the forest, but there are no records of it.
Ellender, south of Gildan, has no official boundary lines separating the two countries. The forest is commonly accepted as part of both Ellender and Gildan. Ellender elves and Gildan have always been strong allies, and the Ellender elves also send their people into the forest to protect the land and creatures. It is common to see Ellender elves visiting Westerdell.
The majority of Westerdell's population consists of humans and Ellender elves. It is rare for Rhesha elves or Aladaskins to travel this far south, especially since Rhesha elves have a dislike for Ellender elves.
Westerdell is a peaceful town that often serves as a stopover for travelers heading to and from the cities in the north or Corris. The town is also a popular destination for adventurers who are interested in exploring the forest and searching for lost treasures. While Gildan law doesn't prohibit adventurers from entering the forest, the soldiers charge a significant voluntary fee for any search and rescue missions required. Some adventurers choose to enter the forest at their own risk.
